Cow’s Face (Gomukhasana)

Benefits:

  • Stretches shoulders and chest

  • Strengthens muscles of the upper back

  • Improves posture

Steps:

  • Begin in a seated position

  • Hold a strap or belt in your right hand (no strap needed if flexible enough)

  • Reach your right hand over your shoulder, dropping the strap down your back

  • Bring your left hand behind your back, then begin moving it up your back

  • Hold onto the strap, working your hands towards each other (clasp hands together, if possible)

  • Sit up tall, open your chest, press your shoulders down, tuck in your tailbone to remove arch from low back

  • Take 4-6 breaths into the stretch

  • Release your hands back to your sides

Repeat on the other side (holding strap in left hand)
